Our pre-rut is usually the last week of October while the rut is the 1st 2 weeks of November. Many trophy class bucks are taken during these times each year. If trophy bucks are what you are hunting for, try to hunt pre-rut or rut times and let the smaller bucks walk. The early season lets you see many deer and with 10 different hunting areas you will always have great stands to hunt in early or late seasons. You will always find great hunting here. Combo hunts allow you to harvest hogs and bobcat while hunting for deer. We have certain areas which contain both hogs and deer. Combo hunters will be able to hunt in these areas. Bobcats may be seen anywhere and are on all our properties. At the Bertie Lodge we do not have antler restrictions. A buck that has bone protruding through the skin is considered a legal buck. Button bucks count as antlerless deer and we ask that you not harvest them if you can tell that they have buttons. This will help protect future bucks.
